Article II Vision and Mission

VISION: A fellowship of Physicians united in the common goal of acquiring the highest level of medical knowledge and skills through continuing education and research and to promote the healing ministrations of the physician in the delivery of health care.

MISSION: the AMS is a non-stock, non-profit professional organization dedicated to the following objectives:
1. To bring together and unite the medical professional in Aklan.
2. To promote high ethical standards in the practice of the profession.
3. To extend medical knowledge and advance medical science.
4. To elevate the standards of medical education and practice.
5. To ensure the enactment of just medical laws.
6. To promote fraternal relations among physicians and between Physicians and allied profession.
7. To protect the legitimate rights and prerogatives of physicians.
8. To serve as the local authoritative source of information and as Conduit of any authoritative.
9. To promote the practice of medicine in the context of Aklan life and Culture.
HISTORY
The Aklan Medical Society was founded in 1957 with its first president Dr. Guillermo Tuazon. Each president served one to 10 years. The longest serving president was Dr. Anselmo B. Legaspi, who served for two terms and a total of ten (10) years. The present president – Dr. Alistair Kashmir C. Dela Cruz is the 39th president of this medical organization composed of about 280 members, most of them are active members serving the province of Aklan and the rest are inactive members mostly working abroad, retired, unknown where about or have not updated their annual membership dues.
Presently, the Aklan Medical Society holds office at the 2nd Floor of Baeay-Daeangpan, Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital, Mabini St., Kalibo, Aklan where the Board Meetings, Indigency Programs and other activities were held.
